2004 VMA Weekend Heats Up Miami
The MTV Video Music Awards created a whirlwind of partying activity in August and Scott made sure to join in the festivities. First up was the P. Diddy “Vote or Die” VMA Party held at Mansion on the 27th, followed by a Blender event on the 28th.
The Miami Herald reports: Saturday night's Blender party at The Shore Club hotel was co-hosted by the hot production duo The Neptunes, and was an all-star event. Jessica Simpson, husband Nick Lachey and sister Ashlee Simpson snacked at a long table - a few steps away from Farrah Fawcett - while former Creed lead singer Scott Stapp and tennis star Boris Becker partied inside. "It's good to be on the other side, just like a fan," said Stapp, who is promoting his solo project and a new single, "Relearn Love." Sunday the 29th saw Scott on the red carpet before attending the awards ceremony. And to top the night off, Stapp hosted a VMA After-Party at the Rokbar.
NBA All-Star Weekend
On February 12 2004 Scott was among the celebrities at the Hennessy Paradis dinner, Tip-Off to the NBA All-Star Weekend, LA. Check out the photos with John Salley at the Black Jack table.
Two days later, Scott, sister Amanda, and personal manager Kiki attended Maxim magazine’s Valentines Day party. But boys will be boys. Scott and Kiki parked themselves in a corner and “put one of the several PS2 units through its paces”, reports maximonline.com. We have the picture to prove it!
Partying with Clive Davis
On the night before the 2004 Grammys, Scott was chatting with the likes of Santana and the Osbournes at the Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Party. View the photos here.
During an October 18 2004 interview on KISS 108, Scott was asked: “I would think that the word’s out Scott Stapp is doing a solo album, I mean there must a gazillion musicians who want to be on it.” To which he replied: “You know what, you’d be shocked - even musicians that are in completely different genres, you know, like I get a call from Nelly and Little John, all the way to Santana and Jimmy Page.”
Rocking Premiere
While on a jam-packed trip to L.A., Scott attended the 2/3/04 premiere of 50 First Dates. Hollywood Reporter says: "The strong showing of musicians and comedians gave Sony's Tuesday premiere of ‘50 First Dates’ a party vibe at Westwood's Mann Village Theatre. Catching the action between the film's Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore were Mark McGrath, Tony Kanal, Scott Stapp, Fabrizio Moretti and Jason Mraz." You won't want to miss the photos.
Meet 7 Aurelius
In an interview on Best Damn Sports Show Period which aired February 4 2004, Scott first revealed that he would be working on his first solo release with producer 7 Aurelius. "7" has a long list of producing credits, including the hit acts Ashanti, Ja Rule, Jay-Z and Jennifer Lopez.
