That crushing guitar rock you hear? That would be Creed. Once on the stage, you can expect some fiery intensity from this Tallahassee, Florida foursome. They're a band who're known to give it good live.

Starting in 1995, Creed recorded their debut album, My Own Prison, for under $6,000. They're getting a good return for that six grand. When released as an independent album in 1997, My Own Prison quickly sold 3,000 copies in two months. Not long after, the big record companies came calling and now their star is on the rise.

Some Creed facts:
-Band members are Scott Stapp (vocals), Brian Marshall (bass), Scott Phillips (drums) and Mark Tremonti (guitar, vocals).
-Have been known to put on four-hour concerts.
-Mark Tremonti is addicted to video games.
-They cite Metallica, Jim Morrison, Black Flag and R & B as influences.

Coming from the Bible-belting South -Stapp had strict, Christian fundamentalist parents- means Creed has been unfairly lumped in with wussy religious bands like DC Talk. Stapp, however, assures everyone they aren't "gospel rockers". Follow the rock and find out for yourself.
Seeing Things
"Imagine an artist giving so much on stage that they begin to hallucinate," begins a Launch article published October 19, 1999. Scott goes on to tell Launch, "Man, I have surreal experiences every night on stage because I almost pass out a lot from singing so hard... And I'll see spots. One time it was really, really weird. I was doing the show in Boston, and I swear to God I saw an Indian. And I saw this Indian right in the dead center of the crowd."

Fan Appreciation
Following a Las Vegas show during which Scott was very ill, and felt he hadn't performed up to his usual standards, Creed decided to come back and make it up to the fans with a Fan Appreciation show on November 28, 2002. Tickets were only $5 and all proceeds went to the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth and S.T.R.E.E.T. Teens Programs. WAWOF added additional funds to be used for the groups' wish list items. The donation totaled $18,600.
Make A Wish
This 12/2/2002 concert review was posted on Creed.com by Annette H.

Back in April 2002 Brian Chadaris made a wish......After the surgery that kept him and his mom in the hospital for a month, I remember Brian had to soak in this large steal tub regularly as part of his therapy and his mom had to help him scrub his skin, I sat in the back (ya know for the privacy thing) During this time he played his music and when "Weathered" came on Brian, out of the blue he says, "You know what would be cool, if I could see them sing this song to me."

Well at that time I was already working on just getting concert tickets for him, and when he said that, my heart just sank and from then on my efforts changed. Even though their concert canceled twice - I bet I was the only one that was happy about it! It gave me more time to work on this and after 10 months and hundreds of emails and phone calls to many people... the most magical once in a lifetime event happened for Brian Chadaris! Brian, his sister Christina, his mom and I went to the concert! But, with coordination's of a local radio station and the luck that one of the stations managers-girlfriend happen to read the BEE article on Brian back in September and remembered him....

Brian was able to meet the band BACK STAGE. This is not a common event for this band as you know and they do not normally do these type of things due to security issues. Anyway, Scott gave Brian some encouraging words that he is not alone because others have emotional pains and other types and just because it is not the same, it is still pain, so don't feel alone.

After the band met Brian, talked with him and played ping pong for an hour before they went on stage.... You would not believe what happened next (unless you heard about it already).... They dedicated the song "Weathered" to Brian during the concert....Scott said, and I quote, "To my friend, Brian...this is for you" and then walked down the stage runway and pointed to him as he sang it to him!!!!!!!!! It was the most amazing thing and I couldn't of dreamed it better.

Mark, the lead guitar player kept the book that was made for them that had a homemade video of our version of "Weathered" that placed pictures of Brian's life of pain and he even took it away from the bouncer to keep. WHAT A NIGHT! I only wish I got to meet them as well but this was for Brian so it was fine. On this day a wish of Brian's actually came true and I am very heart filled with joy that I was able to connect the wish and the magic of CREED together for Brian.

They put on a great show with the shower of sparks, fire and explosions that fit with every song. Fans were very receptive to the bands apology and were happy they were there that day. I can see why Scott's vocals could have gotten damaged because his voice sometimes comes all the way from his feet and Mark can - Oh-My-God- play the guitar I was surprised that there was not smoke coming of his fingers - he is just inside of those guitars. Scott Phillips, I got so tired just from watching him because his entire body moves through-out every song - talk about stamina! Just like I wrote to them in the book.... CREED is a musical puzzle magically fit together to make the picture of success....Annette

Everyday Brian lives in hell and it was worth all the effort just to give him this small piece of heaven to carry with him in his heart. I know he will never forget that day and neither will his sister, his mom and I. This just goes to show everyone and I hope Brian too that if you really want something bad enough and you are not asking for something unrealistic and are willing to work for it, and be persistent....anything can happen. And just to show you how considerate Brian is, he made sure that he got autographs for his girlfriend, her little brother, Brian's sister, and myself. He is always thinking of others no matter what is going on.

Thank you to Scott Stapp, Mark and Scott Phillips for more than a great show and making Brian's wish come true - you were fabulous.
Weathered Tour Cracks Billboard Top 10
In a December 2002 report, Billboard ranked the top 10 tours of the year based on boxscores. The list includes such acts as Paul McCartney ($126.1 million), The Rolling Stones ($90 million), Cher ($67.6 million), Aerosmith ($36.3 million) and The Eagles ($34.9 million).

The report continues: "And in a tour often marked by cancellations, postponements, and rescheduling, Creed still managed to get in more than 80 shows, moving into the big leagues of rock touring in the process with $37.3 million and 886,974 attendance, enough for the band to crack the Billboard Boxscore top-10 for the first time."
