Creed Full Circle Tour Hits Houston

September 7 2010, Austin Post

On Saturday, September 4, Creed ended their summer 2010 Full Circle tour at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in Houston, Texas. The 9000+ Creed fans, mostly dressed in black Creed t-shirts, filled the open air stadium on this beautiful mild night. There were two opening bands, Theft and the band Red. Not sure why Red on their MySpace is classified as "ambient rock," these guys seem more like high octane scream-rock at times. Make sure you check them out, their live show is intense to say the least.

Creed took the stage around 9:30 pm, the large stage was completely filled with smoke and lit up with green lights. You could also see the pyro flames to the side of the stage waiting to be ignited to full blast. The Full Circle tour band members include front man Scott Stapp, Mark Tremonti (guitar), Eric Friedman (guitar), Brian Marshall (bass) and Scott Phillips on drums. This original line up would make many Creed fans drive an extra 100 miles to see the show.

The first song, "Bullets," was accompanied by some major pyro-technics. Six huge fire balls would periodically shoot up from the side and back of the stage, while Scott Stapp would belt out the lyrics and showed of his large biceps in his slightly too tight shirt. Whenever I hear this band, I get instant 90's flashbacks, who can forget "Arms Wide Open" and "Higher." Although they sold millions of albums and concert tickets and were on top of every rock chart, the critics never gave them much respect. However, judging from this concert, they still rock like hell, have a great following and give the audience a cool show complete with catchy songs, smoke and fire!
