I am going to keep this short and sweet. In response to calling me a liar. That was a little harsh don't youn think. I ment what I said. I don't write with an agenda to make people believe anything. I write based on what is going on in my head. Based on the way I was riased, I had alot to figure out, and I used my music to do that. When I wrote MOP I had no idea that the whole world would be exposed to my thoughts. It was just soul searching for myself. The same applies to alot of the songs that have spiritual references. I am just dealing with my past and tyring to figure out how it applies to the present. It is your right to express whatever feelings you have based on my music but just so you know I am not hidding anything from you or trying to sneak religion in the back door. Remember, the majority of the songs have nothing to do with religion. People have just focused on that so much. Now, as it applies the VH1, PLEASE don't believe everything you hear. I NEVER complained or even mentioned anything about Christ like poses. That is just a rume someone started. We are in the process of changing alot of the facts as stated in the pop up video. It was very unaccurate, and we just want people to know the truth about the band. To be honest with you, the majority of stuff that has been written about the band has been way off line.
The VH1 Behind the scenes was really the first thing we all felt was done fairly and without negative intentions. On a positive note. I just want to thank all of you for your support and devotion to the band. You guy's showed your power on the VH1 awards and it was awesome! Thanks for all the feed back about the music. I love to hear what you think. I guess this was not so short and sweet, sorry. See you at a show...talk soon..scott
Hey guy's this is Scott Stapp. I just wanted to clear up some confusion about my father. It has been printed numerous times, and stated on this board that my father is a minister. Well, he's not. He is a Dentist in Winter Park, Florida. Secondly, I was a little offended by the post concerning my personal relationship with God. The "lukewarm" comment. It is attitudes and comments like that, that have put a lasting distaste in my mouth for the "Christian Community." Some Christians have a tendency to condemn what they don't understand, which sometimes undermines the very people who are doing God's will. Remember, Christ was a radical for his time, and very misunderstood. The pious religious leaders of his day would not even allow him in the church, and eventually were apart of nailing him to a cross. With all this said, don't judge what you don't understand. The music speaks for itself. Again, I will say it, we are not a " Christian" band. In no way do we want to associate ourselves with that "organized" title. Just saying you have faith means nothing, but actions speak volumes. Remember this," you will know them by there fruits"
Hey it's Scott Stapp again. I forgot one thing. If not being "bold" is putting your beliefs into the lyrics of your songs, and having them played to millions and millions of people every day, then I don't know what bold is. If not being "bold" is not compromising your beliefs in an industry that will do everything it can to keep your kind out, then I don't know what bold is. If not being "bold" is figuring out a way to reach millions of people with a message, who would never set foot in a church, then I don't know what bold is. If being "bold" is saying I'm a Christian, so the "Christian" community can be happy, than I'm not bold.
