The Stars 4 Stars Weekend was held March 26-27th at beautiful Turnberry Isle Resort and Club. The star-studded weekend included The Jay Fiedler Golf Classic presented by Capital Real Estate Group and a spectacular VIP Roast and Auction sponsored by Raymond Lee Jewelers, which featured a roasting of former Miami Dolphins kicker Garo Yepremian by members of the 1972 Dolphins and other celebrities.
The weekend began on Friday, March 26th with Fiedler's golf tournament on Turnberry's championship course. Celebrities joined 30 foursomes competing for incredible prizes, and, of course, bragging rights. Fiedler's team was unable to defend its title as the Turnberry associate's team, which included Dave Shula, Joel Benes, Mike Nealy, John Warsing and Jimmy Gianos was able to win the tournament. Some of the local and national celebrities that participated in the golf tournament include current Dolphins Jason Taylor, Sam Madison, Olindo Mare, Sage Rosenfels, Randy McMichael, Ricky Williams and Rob Konrad; former Dolphin greats Larry Little, Garo Yepremian, Bob Kuchenberg and Jim Jensen; NFL players Bobby Hamilton, Allen Rossum, and Vonnie Holliday; and celebrities Scott Stapp, lead singer of Creed, actor Hal Linden, and former MTV personality Simon Rex.
On Saturday, March 27th, the stars came out again for the Raymond Lee Jewelers' VIP Celebrity Roast & Auction. The evening included dinner, both live and silent auctions, and the highlight of the event - the roast of Yepremian by Dolphin teammates Earl Morrall and Larry Little and comedians Freddie Roman, Godfrey and Bob Nelson. Along with the NFL players and celebrities that participated in the golf tournament, former Dolphin Mercury Morris, Olympian Kerri Strug and Miss Florida Kristen Berset were in attendance during the roast and auction.
"It was an amazing weekend and the $350,000 we raised can hopefully make a difference of the lives of some of the people with Cystic Fibrosis," said Fiedler, who co-founded Reach for the Stars three years ago with his agent and longtime friend Brian Levy. "With the combination of both the golf tournament and the VIP Roast & Auction, plus the terrific celebrities who have donated their time to be in attendance, the weekend was a great success in raising awareness and money for this worthy cause that is close to my heart." The Reach for the Stars Foundation is dedicated to alleviating the myriad of devastating consequences suffered by those afflicted with CF and their families. The Foundation is dedicated to bridging the gap between living with CF and finding a cure. Miami Dolphins Quarterback Jay Fiedler helped create the Foundation with Brian and Stacey Levy, whose daughter Ellie suffers from the disease.
